What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a therapeutic method involving the gentle insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the flow of one’s Qi (pronounced “chee”) or natural healing energy. This changes the balance of the body’s energy and works to restore health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.) is a coherent and independent system of thought and practice that has a history of more than three thousand years. T.C.M. views the human body as an integral whole and believes that imbalances in the body, caused by internal, external, or emotional factors, are the “roots” of various diseases or illness. So T.C.M. works to restore balance by focusing on the underlying cause of the illness or disease. Treatment may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, remedial exercise, and diet.
